Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends

Regulatory 
(a) I found this article in the local paper in Pensacola, but the regulatory change is affecting immigrants all over the US. (b) Essentially, the President is proposing a new reform that would make immigrants with an H-4 visa no longer able to own a business. The article outlines the impact of the revocation of the H-4 visa. This creates an opportunity because of the experienced workers that will be looking for new jobs. (c) I believe that the prototypical consumer for this would be unemployed immigrants that have recently invalidated H-4 visas. (d) Personally I feel like there is little opportunity to exploit this need, but there would certainly be an opportunity for an assistive service for the target consumers. 

(a) An article found on an Orlando local news network, WESH channel two, a series of regulatory changes in Florida and the US were listed. The change in minimum wage in Florida was included in the article. (b) With any change in minimum wage there is inevitably going to be business opportunities. The cost of work defines the profit margins and impacts the employment rates in most chain restaurants. Since the minimum wage was increased, as well as the minimum wage for tipped workers, there will be an increase of unemployed experienced workers in the service sector. Additionally, there will be opportunities for proposing cheaper and more efficient processes in the businesses that are impacted by the changes in wage minimums. (d) This opportunity spreads across multiple areas and involves multiple specific opportunities. That being said, one could easily take advantage of the need for cheaper systems and materials in those aforementioned businesses. 

Economic

 (a) An article featured on the CNBC website outlines the current state of federal workers in the wake of the government shutdown of the winter 2018-2019. Most significantly, there has been a ten percent increase in federal workers looking for work outside of the federal workplace. (b) The obvious opportunity here is the sudden increase in highly specialized and trained workers that are seeking jobs outside of the government, and some of which who may not have worked outside the government in decades. (c) My prototypical customer would be companies seeking highly specialized employees to fill important roles. I feel like a linking service putting potential employers in touch with workers would be successful. (d) This opportunity would not be difficult to take advantage of, but would require some background and connections with federal workers and employers. Additionally, there could be a potential conflict with existing labor unions. 

 (a) I found this article online at CNBC.com. The piece explains the situation occurring in Louisiana involving the soybean farmers and the tariffs that regulate their exports. Essentially, the tariff change last year led to soybean farmers paying eight times more than before. (b) This opportunity is represented in the mass quantities of soybeans going unused in Louisiana. If there was a way to use the produce that is soon to be going to waste, then the farmers could benefit as well as the entrepreneur. (c) The consumer that is most likely to be targeted is that food producers that use soybeans. (d) This opportunity would be relatively easy to implement given that there is an extreme surplus of soy beans in the state of Louisiana and one could acquire them at low costs.
